annimax_metal Every track on this album kicks ass, yes. But being one who has read all of Dante Alighieri's "Divine Comedy", I am in awe of the tribute that "...Depart From So Much Evil" is to it! Superb masterpiece, masterfully performed! Favorite track: Depart From So Much Evil (a. Inferno, b. Purgatory, c. Paradise).

bob-smiley Gravehuffer is constantly in rotation when I’m working out. The music is fast, hard, but still interesting. It doesn’t fall into the repetitive rut that’s so much Grindcore does. Every album offers something new, pick this up if you haven’t already.

Routine a blueprint for an early grave Obligations, cumbersome Stones around my neck Robbed of time stripped of serenity No moment's peace When you're fighting for the crumbs Tortured by the guilt of not doing enough Crushed by the weight of expectations Devoured by the wolves of capitalism Jaded by the game's discouraging results Keep moving cause the stones keep falling

Humble and strong mentor and friend Steady mind Steady hand Pillar of the town Stoic and decent Protector of the people Justice of the peace They turn to him for guidance Cannot cope on their own Being the human in town of morons he’s alone What would they do if he decided not to care? What would they do if they were on their own? Feeling the pressure shouldering the burden of people who can’t wipe their own ass on their own Colleagues are dim, assholes, buffoons Victim of choices by so called friends He’s been their hero too long Patience for their feebleness has reached an end No moment’s peace when they call When will they learn to figure it out? They live like they can’t live without him He can no longer live with them Repeat Chorus Enough’s enough – He’ll make you pay for being dumb He’ll have his peace, as soon as he silences the streets Pull the shotgun off of the wall, exploding skulls, inbreds fall Pushed over the edge by ineptitude, cleanse his mind, cleanse the neighborhood

Running for life and freedom Gain distance with each step I must elude my captors And their plans forced on me Taken from home and loved ones Transformed to a war machine I want to see my family And tribe to be left in peace I hear the iron bird coming Eyes of light are searching for me I duck away in the shadows Can’t be what they want me to be My steps are getting larger The briars tear my skin Using my key advantage I know these woods so well Gain distance from my bastards Who mutilated me Warped, molested, and conditioned To meet their fighting needs I’m huddled down in a cave The iron birds have passed me by Heading to the woods where I was raised Moving towards the fire light My brothers and sisters It’s great to see your faces No time for conversation Nor time for your embraces There is and evil horde about And it hounds my every move We could stand and fight them But I assure you friends, we’ll lose Be purposed for their wars So they perverted me Snatched from my home Invaded by technology They are on their way They will do the same to you So grab you kin and scatted Seconds are all too few The fog… Brothers and sisters are falling Sleeping… Iron bird carriage eternal The fog… Iron wings lovingly hold me Cocoon… The fog has shrouded my mind The Cryptid and the Iron Bird The Cryptid and the Iron Bird

Woe…feeling low Misery…feeding me Dole…gallows pole Gloom…blackened room My endeavor will last forever Struggling to feel elation Despondency and paralysis Want for heart and contentment Sorrow…all I know Desolation…feel numb Sadness…care less Desperate…to forget My endeavor will last forever Struggling to see salvation Despondency and hopelessness Want for feeling tranquility This purging of unhappiness Lifting off of my consciousness Helping to see a clearer path Find existence to be worthy

Onward Christian soldiers, duties way is plain Slay your Christian neighbors, or by them you’ll be slain The pulpiters are spouting their effervescent swill God above is calling you to rob, rape, and kill All your acts are sanctified, by the lamb oh high If you love your holy ghost, go murder, pray, and die Go murder, pray, and die for your life’s sake Go murder, pray, and die it’s the choice for you to make Go murder, pray, and die it’s your duty it’s your call Go murder, pray, and die your humanity will fall Throughout history’s past, it’s always been the same Taking lives from others, in your false lord’s name If your beliefs and convictions, are so true and strong Why don’t your clouded eyes, see what you do is wrong? You say our worlds at end, you say it’s drawing nigh You must help bring it about, so go murder, pray, and die Repeat chorus Repeat 1st verse Repeat chorus

Inferno Aimless… Hopelessly lost In the middle of my life Drifting and despondent No center no direction Loss has rendered me lost The love that escaped my grasp Now alone in a world so dark Confronted with Leopard, Lion, and Wolf Searching to find the long-lost light Necessitates a trek through time and after life With poet by my side message at the gates “Abandon all hope ye who enter here” Virtuous pagans of Elysian Fields, the godless damned Lost souls in their homes dwelling in hell, hurled by Minos Lustful sinners being tossed around by winds of Hades Gluttonous heathens pelted by ice Eternal burden the greedy man’s stone Hideous wretches writhing in anguish Down in the depths I empathize I must endure my journey mired in pain, still I go on To see my lost love again face the sadness, sink in the pit The pain of wrathful sinners seems to mirror my own Grasping for hope among the hopeless I need a light to pull me through Seeing their pain, a horrific weight Do I deserve the same as them? Stench of molten flesh Hellish winds make me wretch Guide and I are trudging forward Among these damned for pride Repentless sins of the Lion Never do they go unpunished I turn the question inward Will this be my fate? Spiraling down to the core Cold hard winds chill our souls Terrified I descend Fallen angel waits in the center of hell On Grayson’s back we descend Into a dismal icy din Appalled at what I see Faces wrought with misery Damned are trapped in frozen layers Cold dwellings for hideous sinners Walk the most inward circle To the core of hell Lucifer flaps his wings Sinners of the wolf I can’t look away from The face of SATAN Paradise Wrap my mind around a quest, internal questions Through the fire and the ice, terrible confusion Frightened and shaken, but not without hope I found my love in paradise Go walk with Beatrice to see God Eunoe and Lethe washed me clean I can stay and be guided In the sphere of the moon Angels who once were humans Souls full of love and folly Saved by the merciful light I must find the source of love The light that guides us Am I worthy of the light? Can I see it? Through the sphere of Mercury Ambitious but good-hearted souls Lovers in the sphere of Venus With desires like my own Profound philosophies Imperfect just the same Have been given loving refuge Because they believed in the light Love is why I seek you I find that love’s divine I’m asking can it be true? Does love mean seeing the light? Moving toward the empyreal light and angels all around me Am I worthy to see God? Seeing their lost souls in Hell remind me of my own transgressions Too impure to see the light Can my quest for love be enough to grant me my mercy? I’m in awe and afraid Beatrice hold my hand show me to the source of goodness I’m like one who sees in dream Dream is gone an impression remains Nothing comes to mind again Vision fails, sweetness born Still distills inside my heart Love that moves sun and stars Searching for love and finding light Searching for light and finding love If God is love and God is light Do we become God when we love? The quest for light is divine When we love are we then light?

about

This album is an experiment & not necessarily indicative of our sound moving forward. The first 4 songs (Side A) were written as solo pieces & recorded by Gravehuffer.
The last song (Side B) was something we’ve discussed recording for a long time.
We have always wanted to write a multi-part epic and now seemed like it was right.
We hope you enjoy our out of the box thinking on the album ‘...Depart From So Much Evil’

about

Gravehuffer Joplin, Missouri

Since their inception in 2008, Gravehuffer has crafted their sound into an other-worldly amalgamation of Crust, Punk, Metal, Grindcore, and unapologetic down-tuned Sludge-laden Doom. With an assortment of original songs in their repertoire that showcase the vast array of influence the band pulls from and a fearlessness to never conform or compromise, Gravehuffer is in it for the sake of the song. ... more
